Uso


Uso (嘘, うそ) is a common Japanese word meaning "lie," "falsehood," or "untruth". Beyond its literal meaning, it is frequently used as an exclamation to mean "No way!", "Unbelievable!", or "You're kidding!". The kanji 嘘 combines characters for "mouth" (口) and "tiger" (虎).

“i wanted something futuristic and retro the same time. which lies in the basic of every artistic vision me and goos share in this self titled EP. i like movies like The City of Lost Children, Brazil, Howl’s Moving Castle. it’s redundant, dramatic, intentionally bad props that looks good, serious and unserious the same time. so i had the long dark grey Margiela gloves that had three big fingers. and a military like cap with the same color. a Yohji floral print dress and a LV high top sneaker. originally i wanted to go shoot the cover on a volcanic beach. a beach with black sand, but due to logistic reason, we ended up taking a water bus designed by the same person who wrote Galaxy Express 999. which was a better ending. it was futuristic and retro and all white and pale blue all over. felt like we were on spaceship.”

“okay so yea the whole production style is really inspired by two things that don't have so much to do with each other but kind of share this collage-y aesthetic
one is 90s japanese shibuya-kei and the other is like early 2000s european electronic pop music, by labels like kompakt, maison kitsuné
i really like the idea of samples being chopped until unrecognisable and made into something new.
both shibuya kei and maison kitsune releases often really reference the idea of being in a big city and traveling between them in a kind of naive and romanticised way and i think this is an important theme on the ep  
like this late 90s early 2000s obsession with being cosmopolitan

Made a suitably swaggy postcard.  “i wanted to have a dollhouse like environment with goofy paints on it, u can only watch from outside see colors on the wall and never fully feel the absurdity of living in it. or maybe at one point everything aligns and gives u a perspective u might or not wanted to have”
